It would be tempting to say that some years ago I was visited in a dream by an alien named Cali-Eta who lived and died in what is now southern Europe some six thousand years ago. When she was a young woman, her people departed for their own planet, Lan, leaving no trace of themselves behind – or so they thought. An elaborate ruse had convinced them that she had been killed along with her grandmother, the price of their refusing to leave with the rest. In my dream, she urged me to tell the true story of the atLan, as they called themselves, which has come down to us (sorry, Plato) in rather garbled form as the Atlantis myth.

Was that dream real? Or was it simply the product of my over-active imagination? Well, the idea for the atLan Chronicles had to come from somewhere. And, as Cali-Eta said to me in my dream, “Are not dreams reality? There were times in your primitive history when dreams were considered a greater reality than what you perceive through your senses. Reality contains far more than your mind’s poor world.”

I debated that with her, but she was very persuasive. She told me she would act as my muse, and lead me to discover what really happened so many years ago.

“Write the story,” she insisted. “Write of love and ambition, of treachery and deceit, of hope and honor, of death and destruction. Write, that reality may take form once more. Breathe into it, breathe creative spirit. AtLan will live through you!”

What could I say? Perhaps atLan has. And perhaps the atLan Chronicles contain a form of reality. Judge for yourselves. Four books have been written, and a fifth is underway. The Genesis Plan and The Rebellion of the Wolf have been published, and are available on Amazon or from me directly at the email below. The Maelstrom of Destiny is now in the publishing process and will be available in 2024. The fifth book, The Journey to Nowhere is in progress.
